Mazda CX-80: 7-seat SUV and flagship of the range
The new Mazda CX-80 offers 7 seats in three rows. It features e-Skyactiv plug-in hybrid (PHEV) and diesel powertrains, combined with all-wheel drive with superior rear torque distribution.
The new 7-seat Mazda CX-80 made its European debut on April 18. It is the second model in the brand's large crossover category, after the CX-60. The CX-80, the largest in Mazda's European range, is destined to become the brand's new flagship in Europe. With a length of almost five meters and a wheelbase of over three meters, this large crossover can carry seven people on board in three rows of seats, the two at the back folding flat into the trunk. The CX-80 offers three different configurations for its second row of seats, including two comfort seats separated by a center console or a passageway to the third row of seats.
Plug-in hybrid or diesel
The CX-80 is available with a choice of two e-Skyactiv engines: 4-cylinder plug-in hybrid (PHEV) or 6-cylinder in-line diesel. The PHEV version delivers a total output of 327 hp and 500 Nm of torque. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.8 seconds, has a top speed of 195 km/h and boasts an all-electric range of 60 km. Average WLTP fuel consumption is just 1.6 l/100 km, with CO2 emissions of just 35-36 g/km. The diesel version develops 254 hp, accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8.4 seconds and reaches a top speed of 219 km/h. The result is an average fuel consumption of 5.7-5.8 l/100 km and CO2 emissions of 148-151 g/km.
State-of-the-art equipment
Both engines are coupled to an eight-speed automatic gearbox and Mazda's i-Activ permanent all-wheel drive system. The latter ensures superior torque distribution to the rear, combining the stability and driveability of a 4x4 with the cornering neutrality of a rear-wheel drive vehicle. The new Mazda CX-80 also offers a towing capacity of 2,500 kg. It also boasts a full range of driving aids (i-Activsense), which have earned it 5 stars in Euro NCAP crash tests. These include the Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS) system, with its assistance function in the event of the driver failing to react; the Smart Brake Support (SBS) system, with its forward collision avoidance function; and the Lane Keeping Assist (ELK) system, with its forward collision avoidance function.
