Retrofit: Bedeo joins forces with Dangel

Bedeo announces a strategic partnership with Automobiles Dangel for the launch of a new retrofit offering for utility vehicles. Bedeo and Automobiles Dangel have announced the signing of a strategic partnership to launch a new range of retrofitted utility vehicles. Named Reborn Electric, this range aims to modernize large vans equipped with diesel engines by converting them into hybrid electric or 100% electric vehicles. Under the agreement, Dangel will market the Reborn Electric range in France, which is developed and manufactured in-house according to automotive industry production and quality standards. The range features exclusive electronic solutions, including in-wheel motor (IWM) technology, inverters, and batteries. This new offering comes as light commercial vehicles (LCVs) account for 40% of all logistics-related emissions, highlighting the importance of LCV electrification (source: McKinsey & Company). Meeting the need for LCV decarbonization "The French retrofit market for large vans is growing, and our strategic partnership with Dangel directly addresses this demand and the need to decarbonize light commercial vehicle fleets," explains Osman Boyner, founder and CEO of Bedeo. "Working with Dangel will allow our homologated Reborn Electric solutions to reach a broader range of French fleet users while leveraging Dangel's experience and expertise in utility vehicle manufacturing. Given the European scope and the ideal location of the manufacturing plant in Eastern France, this agreement could be extended to other European countries in the near future. Retrofitting is the most cost-effective and least intrusive way to electrify a fleet." Two solutions: 100% electric or plug-in hybrid The Reborn Electric range is available in two versions: 100% electric (BE) or plug-in hybrid (RE). The electric vehicles can be equipped with a 37 kWh or 75 kWh battery, offering drivers a WLTP range of 117 km or 248 km. On plug-in hybrid models with a range extender (RE), the original diesel engine is retained, but an electric motor and a 37 kWh battery are added, providing 117 km of electric-only range and 600 km in total. These RE models enable fleets to drive in cities in electric-only mode and then use the original diesel engine (often compliant with Euro 6 standards) to reach depots located outside the city. A specialist in converting utility vehicles into 4x4 or Trek models, Dangel will market the Reborn Electric range alongside its current offerings. The Dangel vehicles powered by Bedeo will be manufactured and tested at the Sentheim site in Alsace, France. Under this license, Dangel can sell directly to all fleets, businesses, and end customers in France.
