BMW and MINI: An Electric Revolution

Wednesday 24 January 2024

Fully committed to electromobility, the BMW Group now offers a 100% electric vehicle in almost every vehicle segment, across all its brands: BMW, Mini, and BMW Motorrad.

MINI: A New Family With its new generation of models,
the brand places driving pleasure, user experience, and environmental responsibility at the forefront of its concerns, aiming to enter a new era. This transformation, with the goal of becoming a fully electric brand by 2030, is reflected in the design of the new models. In doing so, MINI also emphasizes the urban character coupled with the joy of innovation. This innovation is also evident inside the cabin. The circular OLED central screen sets a new technological standard with its high resolution. Like in the previous generation of MINI, this screen is a key component of the interior that consolidates numerous functionalities. The new MINI interface, now with a diameter of 24 cm, is even more ergonomic and useful for the driver. The MINI Countryman III Goes Electric With this third generation, the largest model in the new MINI family converts to 100% electric propulsion. The arrival of two electric powertrains further enhances the driving pleasure characteristic of the British brand. As the first MINI model manufactured in Germany, the new MINI Countryman also innovates in terms of production. The 100% electric MINI Countryman is offered with two performance levels. The MINI Countryman E boasts a power of 204 hp (150 kW), a torque of 250 Nm, and a range of 462 km.
The MINI Countryman SE ALL4, on the other hand, develops 313 hp (230 kW), 494 Nm of torque, and achieves a range of 433 km. Both powertrains are associated with a 64.7 kWh battery. MINI Cooper E and SE: Electric Pleasure The purely electric MINI Cooper is not only an iconic model with the characteristic MINI design but also a symbol of the brand's future in electromobility. It provides an electric "go-kart" sensation and a 100% MINI user experience. For this new generation, the MINI 3-door once again positions itself as the brand's icon. The agile and compact silhouette features MINI's characteristic proportions: short overhangs, a compact hood, and a long wheelbase that contrasts with the large wheels. All these elements give this new 100% electric MINI Cooper charm and charisma combined with traditional design features. Equipped with brand-new batteries, the MINI Cooper is available in both E and SE powertrains, with the latter being more powerful. The 184 hp (135 kW) electric motor of the MINI Cooper E generates a torque of 290 Nm, allowing the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.3 seconds. With a power of 218 hp (160 kW), the MINI Cooper SE goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 6.7 seconds with a maximum torque of 330 Nm. The range, determined according to the WLTP test cycle, is 305 kilometers for the MINI Cooper E, thanks to a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 40.7 kWh. For the MINI Cooper SE, the range reaches 402 kilometers with a higher battery capacity of 54.2 kWh.
