Volvo EX30: a star at the show

Thursday 25 January 2024

Volvo Car France will be presenting its new 100% electric EX30 at the Rencontres Flotauto. A small, premium electric SUV at a competitive price.

For Volvo Cars, the future is 100% electric. So it's only natural that its range of all-electric models should expand with the arrival in dealerships of the Volvo EX30 at the start of 2024. This new model, small in size, boasts all the great qualities you'd expect from a Volvo: elegant design, dynamic driving experience, on-board comfort, advanced safety levels... What's more, the Volvo EX30 aims to be competitive in the premium electric B-SUV market, with prices starting at 37,500 euros in France. A price similar to that of an equivalent combustion-powered SUV.

Several engines and batteries
When it comes to powertrains, Volvo Cars gives customers the freedom to choose the battery technology that best suits their needs. Three different engines and two different battery types are available. The Single version of the EX30 adopts a single-engine 51 kWh LFP battery, using lithium-iron-phosphate technology, which is more economical and less resource-intensive in terms of production. To optimize range, Volvo Cars also offers a Single Extended Range version with a 69 kWh NMC battery, which uses lithium-nickel-manganese-cobalt technology. This option offers up to 476 km of range between two recharges.

Fast charging
The EX30 is also available in a Twin Performance version. This combines an additional electric motor with all-wheel drive. With 315 kW (428 hp), it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds. As for recharging, the EX30's NMC battery offers a capacity of up to 155 kW (135 kW for the LFP battery). All versions can be recharged from 10% to 80% in just over 25 minutes. Using the car's central display and app, the intensity can be set, as can the maximum charge level and the time when charging should be initiated.

An exemplary level of safety
The new EX30 is also designed to offer the level of safety expected of a Volvo in the hustle and bustle of urban environments. This includes an exclusive safety feature that helps prevent door incidents. An alert is issued when the vehicle door is about to be opened in front of a cyclist, scooter or pedestrian. The Volvo EX30 also aims to make life on board more practical, tranquil and enjoyable, thanks to cutting-edge technologies and a typically Scandinavian interior design, with practical storage options throughout the cabin. As for the large, 12.3-inch diagonal central display, it brings together all the information needed for driving, and allows you to control the main functions of the Volvo EX30.
